UVic Microwave Sustainability GrantIn the Fall Semester of the 2022-2023 school year, the UVSP awarded a grant to a group of ES407 students who spearheaded an initiative to decrease food waste on campus by encouraging students to pack their own lunches through locating and removing microwave 'deserts' on campus. This initiative sought to create conversation around food waste reduction, food security, and single-use plastics and packaging. It also successfully mapped the locations that microwaves are available for student use on-campus. With support from this grant, the UVic Microwave Map is now available at locations on campus and new microwaves have been bought and installed on-campus.
